I’ m jealous at any one that is looking into your eyes
I’m jealous at any person that gets your big smile
I’m jealous at all of those you shake hands with
or give a homey hug, a little kiss

But I’ve got to stay focused

time’s ticking, dreams fading away

forgot my focus
what am I focused on?

Who gives the best Jazz sessions in town?
Even my boy Rceeezy from Houston, TX knows! Saxophone player Kamasi is the man, who frequently brings the few worldwide genuine musicians together in his backyard home-studio somewhere between L.A. and Inglewood for a recording jam session.
And here I land sitting in the corner with my little notebook trying to be as silent as a working ant can be… Ma che, working ant; in a time when art got monotonous and women turned ugly, I am fully aware of this divine ear-gasm and mos def do not mind to leave this 3 hours session with a new tinnitus.

Alright! Now you want to know why I’m accusing my species to be repulsive and art boring. As always, Venus does not worry to fully articulate herself:

In my eyes a woman is supposed to be compassionate wisdom and a gentle muse to the production driven man. But looking up to drug prepared Kate puppets and Tomb Raiders doesn’t it turn a girl into a miserable wicked fantasy?
Among the speculation that a male is incomplete without his female half, I observe an assortment of our days wanna-be-art being created with nothing but a mouse, the same way as Bush’s business plan: With the lonely desire of attention and power.

To me Art is an expressed definition of a life momentum that stimulates senses, mind and body like a massage. So, as a massage it has a divine value and we pay as much as we can afford to show our appreciation.

But by chance my hope dies last. Sitting here like a faded Moss on a VIP stool, witnessing 5 genius gentlemen mastering the recording of three overwhelming 10-15 minutes pieces of pure Jazz (each in max. 2 takes) I arouse believing in wonders again.

Homy, let me tell you like this: Ju don’no what I’m about to tell ya, but believe me, you wanna sit down and read my blabla carefully if you care about HipHop and Basketball… OK?!
Aight here we go:
If you think that the hottest event of Monday, April 28th in L.A. was the Lakers game scoring 107-101 baking the Nuggets, you are almost right!

Almost! Because the space the undersigned was watching it from was roughly as exciting. eYe actually didn’t pay attention at all to the game, sorry! She was being too busy eating free tapas, drinking free beer and observing the scenery.
Back to me.

When I took the Metro bus that nearly made me lose my cool taking 60 instead of 30 minutes to get to the Noho subway because of that old A’-hole (excuse my French!) that did NOT have the bus fair and still had the nerve to cuss out the bus driver along with this country for letting him sit and ride for free and being nothing but an AWOL soldier… no, I did not know where my boy AntiQ invited me to.
The ‘Calikings’ (www.calikings.com) had the magnificent idea to organize an insider listening party for upcoming talents, passing sheets to vote and comment. Now guess who this mini swizz fool had the pleasure to give her BS to… haha you will never guess, but here a little hint: the Enrique Iglesias of Hip Hop!

No?

Ok another hint: The godfather of the Game G-unit didn’t want to play with and a white rapper that was compared to Marilyn Manson has a son!

All good things are three, no more hints: Curtis Young, Dr. Dre’s son had the balls to ask for opinions and I, Venus Leone, did have the ovaries to write it down. Believing you want to know, I will tell you what I think:
As newcomer he would be Ok, another shelved artist to be discovered at Amoeba. Being presented as a Hollywood royalty as well as being the son of an icon who’s talent recognizes talent and has produced creatively courageous men who have made world history in and out of the Hip Hop movement, I am sorry but my expectation is big and not fulfilled at this moment. Tracks that sound like the songs radio stations rag my ears with day by day do not impress me. In the burning car without AC brainiacs wanna listen to the heat of your soul. If what I heard is all I get Nas is right: Hip Hop is dead! Let’s move on.

BUT Curtis is still Young and I am positive. We might hear, feel, see, smell or taste a creation the also called Hood Surgeon will move hearts. And who am I to condemn? Just one of many listeners, a wanna-be something standing in between the still gorgeous and most talented female DJ Spinderella, Dj MoDav and A-Love, the man that can take you there where ever there is.
